The big day has just passed, and I will not forget this birthday for a while. Mel had arranged for Jill, Tony, Mel & myself to take a helicopter to Awaroa Lodge in the Abel Tasman National Park.
This was no ordinary helicopter being a luxury French Helicopter and the only one of it's kind in the South Island.
It was amazing to see how close everything is when you fly a direct route as opposed to driving around the winding roads to Kaiteriteri and then take a water taxi to the lodge. We were there in just 20 minutes. Although the weather was not fantastic the views were awesome! Unfortunately the rain came so we unable to take a nice stroll around the area before sitting down to a beautiful lunch....but it did mean we could sit down to a nice glass of bubbly to kick the day off!!
I can definitely recommend this trip! More photos can be viewed at the World's our Oyster photo gallery
